Chalet Chic

When the winter winds start to blow, I love to cozy up, ski-lodge style. From rustic to refined, the warm, welcoming look of a ski cabin or slopeside chalet remains a seasonal favorite. Glide on over to The Lodge at Bellevue Square (Bellevue, 575 Bellevue Way NE; 425.454.8096; bellevuesquare.com) and you’ll be inspired to create your very own ski-themed home ensemble. With its massive stone fireplace, comfy leather furnishings, and wood beam construction, this beautiful public hangout is chock-full of ski-country charm. And when the magical snowfall and glittering lights of Bellevue Square’s annual Snowflake Lane extravaganza appear nightly just outside the Lodge (7 p.m., Nov. 25–Dec. 31), you’ll feel transported to a marvelous mountainside manse.
Ready to add a luxurious lodge look to your abode? Start with a few stately, ski-chalet appropriate furnishings, such as Henredon’s high-back, plaid upholstered side chair and Ralph Lauren’s Stinson pedestal table from Henredon & Schoener (Bellevue, 700 Bellevue Way NE, Suite 220; 425.454.9000; henredonschoener.com). A nifty little leather-topped sling stool is a perfect choice for propping up ski-boot-sore feet. Add some sophisticated alpine-inspired statement pieces, such as a horn-mounted table lamp and large, pine-cone pedestal sculptures from Thomasville Home Furnishings (Bellevue, 700 Bellevue Way NE, Suite 200; 425.637.0888; thomasvilleofbellevue.com). Next come natural, woodland-themed accents: faux birch-bark candles, a distressed wooden wine crate (perfect for storing après-ski libations), and a whimsical tree-branch coat stand (Pottery Barn, Bellevue, 212 Bellevue Square; 425.451.0097; potterybarn.com). Finally, to complete the look, don’t miss the authentic, Nordic-inspired ski apparel and accessories at Helly Hansen (Bellevue; 170 Bellevue Square; 425.451.7372; hellyhansen.com).
With a touch of sophisticated ski-lodge style, any home can be chalet-chic.
